Welcome to Minjerribah / North Stradbroke Island
Minjerribah, known as North Stradbroke Island, is a breathtaking sand island in Quandamooka Country. A rural Gem on the doorstep of Brisbane, rich in culture, natural beauty, and community spirit. This idyllic destination is home to three distinct villages, each offering its own unique charm.

Dunwich / Goompi

Yes, there are 12 prize categories! We encourage films that explore local stories, environmental themes, and creative approaches like AI-driven filmmaking or experimental storytelling. How can I start planning my film?

Start with a story idea! Think about what’s meaningful to you—whether it’s a slice of island life, an adventure, or a heartfelt moment. Gather your team, brainstorm with AI to rapidly expand your ideas and narrative, then start filming A.S.A.P. during the December-January holidays.

What resources are available to help filmmakers?

We’re currently reaching out to local artists and mentors to provide workshops, advice, and some basic introductions to using AI for filmmaking. “How to make films faster and cheaper with AI and your smartphone.” Keep an eye on our website and social channels for updates.

How do I submit my film?

All submissions will be made via FilmFreeway. Just upload your completed film and provide any required details. Submission dates and guidelines will be listed on the website.

How can local businesses or groups get involved?

We’re looking for sponsors, prize donors, a judging panel and volunteers! Businesses can sponsor awards, raffle prizes, offer in-kind support, or help promote the festival. Is there a deadline for entering?
